Nintendo: you get to keep your Virtual Console games
N-Sider wanted to get to the bottom of the mystery – if our Wii needs repair will our Virtual Console games remain intact?
Basically, Nintendo says yes. If your system is sent in for repair (and NOT using the advance replacement program), Nintendo will ensure that your Virtual Console games, paid for Wii Points, and other downloaded console remain intact, whether you receive your original Wii unit back or a refurbished unit.
What interests me the most is that Nintendo gave an open answer to the question of getting a new Wii. I have a Wii right now, but I’ve been reluctant to download Virtual Console games, because I’m debating getting another one down the road, and leaving my current one at home for my family to enjoy (partially because it’s all scratched up from bringing it around to parties). Supposedly, if a Wii owner later gets a new Wii, they can contact Nintendo for possible options involving transferring VC content. Hopefully this is possible, as it means I can download VC games to my current Wii and not have to worry about anything!
