Is the Gamecube dead?

Many people are considering the Gamecube to be long gone by now:

Play.com has officially removed the ‘coming soon’ games list for the Nintendo GameCube. This meas that’s it. To be fair, Nintendo’s handling of the GC was pretty disgraceful – they didn’t even do anything when it was pulled from the shelves of GAME stores.

In my opinion, while the system itself might be dead, the games appear to be enjoying a second wind on the Wii. People who would have never even touched Eternal Darkness, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Mario Kart: Double Dash, and MANY more can now do so with the Wii. So what do you guys think, is the Gamecube dead?

I still enjoy GC games, especially during this time when there are not a lot of Wii games to play.

I restarted my Viewtiful Joe from the beginning (it’s still excellent), and bought Viewtiful Joe 2 for 13€ (about 15$).

Not only GC games are still much enjoyable, but prices have started to drop, which means people will be able to try games they wouldnt have wanted to pay 40 or 50$.

I’ve started to write down a wishlist of GC games I need to get before they can’t be found anymore.

One other reason I think why GC games are not dead : since the gap between the GC and Wii graphics is not huge, we are not thinking “what an ugly game” when playing a GC game after having played Wii games.
