Scalpers still making profit on the Wii

Digital Displacement looks at the second-hand sales of the Wii on eBay:

Back in December we reported that Wii consoles were selling at higher premiums than PS3′s were, despite the huge price differential and despite Nintendo getting far more units to stores than Sony. A few months on the situation is surprisingly still in place, and the margins have increased. This 60 gig PS3 with two bundled games just sold for $700, a net loss of about $20 from the bundle’s combined retail price of $719.97 [plus tax]. Compare that to this bare Wii console that went for $378. That’s $128 greater than retail, a solid premium on a console that’s been on the market for about three months now.

I just looked. Several of those Wiis are going for $300+ whereas I saw some PS3s for almost as low as $400. I think that speaks for itself.
