Hmm. I hope maybe once last generation is out of the picture, things will be looking better for Nintendo.

I loved Legos. The old ones, before all this Bionicle crap. Check out the little Lego person playing his Lego Wii:
Unfortunately, he doesn’t seem to be wearing a wrist strap. That looks like a relatively large TV… I sure hope he doesn’t have sweaty hands.

I think we can all agree that GameCube controllers or WaveBird receivers look ugly plugged into the Wii. Well, someone went one step further and modded those receivers right into the Wii itself!
If I wasn’t so worried about voiding my warranty (not to mention the fact that I have little to no modding experience - but that never stopped me from doing anything), then I’d do something like this. Who knows, maybe some day I’ll tackle a similar mod.

I feel like stirring up some controversy here. I personally love Ocarina of Time, because while it wasn’t my first ever Zelda title I played, it was the first one I ever seriously put the time into finishing, thus opening me up to the Legend of Zelda universe. As a result, I have a personal inclination to like the 3D Zelda games more, but I know this isn’t an overwhelming case among the fans.
IGN’s score was given by a Lucas M. Thomas (who?). What do you think? Agree? Disagree? The VC version doesn’t even have rumble for the Stone of Agony…

One person noticed a cool little detail, probably left-over from a previous stage in development. If the Wii is running in 480p with Zelda: Twilight Princess in and running, pressing the Home button will bring up the menu as usual. If the system is left idle long enough, the screen dimmer will go on and you may notice this:
It’s faint, but it clearly says “Add Mic.” What do you think? Left over from development? Or possibly for use in future games?

Now this is amazing. Normally I’m very picky with visual and musical art, as I’m sure Matt is with video art - these are our areas of study, so we tend to be very critical. Master Wii Art sent us some photographs of the Wii, Wii remotes, and DS Lite lit up by what looks like glow sticks of some kind. Whatever they are, they illuminate the Wii colorfully and beautifully against the dark surroundings. I love photos like these, especially the ones where the time exposure effect is used (it’s not really a lengthened time exposure, they just happen to be moving the glowsticks really fast). Check out a few below, with more after the break.
More after the break!

I loved SimCity 3000. I remember sitting in school when they were handing out the Scholastic Club orders that just arrived. Every else ordered books from Scholastic Club, but at the time I didn’t care much for that and always went to the computer software section (BUT I love books now - so all you younguns, make sure you’re reading a lot).
I had enjoyed SimCity 2000 for years, and 3000 was just awe-inspiring when I popped it in for the first time. The DS game, which has been out in Japan, will be arriving Stateside this summer. Apparently it’s SimCity 3000 with added features - you play god as you blow into the microphone to blow out city fires, things like that.
How ’bout a review copy, EA?

Trey, from our “Nintendo Wii” Facebook group, decided to spend some free time constructing a cheap and efficient Wii light gun shell using a toilet paper roll. Well, now he’s constructed one out of plastic and duct tape that’s much studier than his previous contraption.
You know, you can make anything out of duct tape. Anyone feeling creative with Wii accessories? Send us your creations!

Mobile game site Hovr has released Mobario, a free game with ads before and after each playing session. In the Mobario game, Mobario is a plumber who goes through levels, collecting coins and mushrooms, bashing through bricks, and stomping on turtles. The game has no legal connection to Nintendo, though we’ll see what happens with this one.

Xider has announced plans to publish 12 games this year for Windows PC and the Nintendo DS. Xider has given a list of PC games to be released, but has not specified yet which games will be coming to the DS. Unfortunately and despite Kotaku’s report otherwise, however, Bone will not be on the list of DS games to be announced as Wired was able to confirm from the company.
