The New York Times wants to know!

The Nintendo Wii, which uses an innovative wireless controller to translate the players’ motions onto the screen, has upset the order of the video game world. In electronics stores and elsewhere, there are growing signs that the Wii has taken the lead in buzz and sales over another new console, the Sony PlayStation 3, which offers new superlatives in processing power and graphics.

Hollowfreak over at CAG’s forums has gone an modded his Wii to have the GC ports up front and lit up.

Why did I make this? I wanted the controller ports up front, I wanted extra weight so it won’t come flying out of my entertainment center if a cord gets yanked, and my Wii was so small next to my xbox and ps2 that I was getting an Inferiority complex. aarrgghh. the e-mail made me do it!

Why did you want the controller ports up front? I guess it all has to do with where I’m putting my Wii. If my Wii is standing up … umm vertically I can’t get to the ports and if my Wii is laying down umm horizontally I can’t get to them either. Now someone on digg said “Since he’s got the Wii in the horizontal position anyway he could of just rotated it 90 degrees in the counterclockwise direction” … well then my wii would be spitting discs at my xbox and that’s not going to happen.

Developer Pipeworks and publisher Atari have revealed to IGN their intention of bringing Godzilla: Unleashed to the Wii and Nintendo DS.

My wife and decided that as a Valentine’s Day gift to each other, we’d split the cost of a Nintendo Wii (who says romance is dead?). As you know, they are a little hard to come by unless you want to get rolled on E-bay. I spent part of the weekend asking around local stores to try to glean some information as to when they could expect another shipment of Nintendo Wiis. At each store I visited I received a different answer, but no one had any in stock. Imagine my surprise, then, when I saw three Wiis stacked on the counter behind the cashier at Fry’s Electronics last night. I asked if they were returned or defective units and the cashier said they were perfect and ready to be sold.

A blogger named Matt has posted his response to all the criticism against Nintendo out there concerning the Wii. While I agree people complain too much about some aspects of the Wii and the Virtual Console, I’m not sure I agree with all of Matt’s points - primarily because Nintendo earns a TON of profit per Wii console, and because despite the Friend Code system, it’s been noted that the Wii’s browser has been used by some owners to view adult material.
