We reported earlier that the Nintendo DS has reached 10 million units sold in Europe. Now, Pocket Gamer has taken notice that of those 10 million units sold since the March 2005 launch in Europe, 4 million of those have come since this past September, with 1.7 million coming in December alone.
What does that mean? DS sales aren’t only reaching impressive numbers, but the sales rate seems to be increasing. Pocket Gamer seems to think that with a slight price drop later in the year, the DS has the potential to double its total European sales by the end of this year. For those that don’t want to do the math, they’re saying Europe will be playing on 20 million DS handhelds by the end of 2007.
What do you think, is the DS on that hot of a streak right now? There are over 5 million Nintendogs owners in Europe… would the 2007 line-up and a possible price drop be enough to put it over 20 million in Europe alone?
