Kotaku has an interesting clip of a very unfortunate Super Mario Bros. remake. The game was released on the NEC PC-8801 computer in Japan in 1986. Everybody should now be thankful that the NES could handle side-scrolling games, because loading each screen individually makes me want to scream out in agony. Also, the pipe sound effects really irritate me. At least Hudson inserted their trademark bee power-up…
I am not too familar with the NEC PC-8801 like most of the world is (I mean, it was the coolest computer in Japan!), but here is what it might have looked like running Super Mario Bros.
