Wii better for independents

WiiWii has posted a short article on how people sometimes forget about the little people, and how the gives them an opportunity to shine.

That’s the view of Italian developer Twelve Interactive, anyway, which is working on its first Wii title, Crash Dummy Vs The Evil D-Troit (pictured).

“The Nintendo Wii is a perfect console to work on for small independent developers like us,” says MD Guiseppe Crugliano. “It will give us the opportunity to work on triple-A games with a very reduced budget. Crash Dummy Vs The Evil D-Troit will take full advantage of the innovative Wii-mote and Nunchuck controllers.”

In all the talk about how and why the Wii might be better/worse than PS3 and Xbox 360, people don’t often talk about small developers. But if the relative cheapness of developing for Wii means a flow of cool, original game concepts, that’s great. The danger comes if it also means a flow of cheap rubbish, of course.
