The Man Bytes Blog has posted a round-table article on motion control and digital input in video games.
Even the Nintendo DS, arguably the most successful console of last year, utilizes a very special key press interface – a touch sensitive screen. It does not register the tilt of your stylus, nor how hard you’re pressing, but merely the fact that the stylus is pressed against the screen. Some games have used this to track motion, but many (Elite Beat Agents, Touch Detective, and others) have used this screen to register essentially one thing — key presses.
